Proshield®: The Next Generation in Vapour Permeable Air Barrier Membranes
Why Choose Proshield®?
Proshield® is an advanced self-adhesive, vapour-permeable air barrier membrane designed to provide superior airtightness, moisture management, and ease of installation for modern construction projects. Manufactured by Don & Low, Proshield® ensures high-performance protection while optimizing energy efficiency across walls and floors.
Key Benefits:
- Self-Adhesive & Primer-Free – Proshield® bonds directly to OSB, steel, concrete, aluminium, gypsum board, and wood without additional primers, nails, or tapes. This streamlines installation and minimizes the risk of air leakage.
- Versatile Application – Suitable for walls and floors, ensuring seamless protection across the entire building envelope.
- Superior Airtightness – Prevents unwanted air infiltration and exfiltration, helping buildings meet stringent energy performance requirements.
- High Vapour Permeability – This effectively manages moisture by allowing water vapour to escape, reducing the risk of condensation and mould buildup.
- Class B-s1,d0* Fire Resistance – Meets UK building regulations for membrane fire classification, ensuring safer building envelopes.
- W1 Water Resistance – It withstands exposure to rain and moisture, making it suitable for external applications even in challenging weather conditions.
- Durable & Tear-Resistant – High tensile strength ensures resistance to damage during installation and throughout the building’s lifecycle.
- Full Range of Tapes & Accessories – This product provides a complete airtightness solution, with preformed corners and colour-matched tapes for seamless integration.
- Custom Branding Options – Don & Low, a vertically integrated manufacturer, can customise Proshield® with company logos, providing tailored solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What makes Proshield® different from traditional membranes?
Proshield® is fully self-adhesive, eliminating the need for primers, mechanical fixings, and tapes, making installation faster and more efficient. It also provides superior airtightness and vapour permeability in high-rise and modular buildings.
Can Proshield® be used for walls and floors?
Yes! Proshield® is engineered to provide a continuous airtight and water-resistant barrier across walls and floors, making it a highly versatile solution for various construction projects. Even junctions and openings can be airtight with our range of tapes and preformed corners.
How does Proshield® help with moisture management?
With its high vapour permeability, Proshield® allows moisture to escape while preventing water ingress, reducing the risk of condensation and mould buildup, ultimately improving the longevity of the building structure.
Does Proshield® comply with fire safety regulations?
Absolutely. When adhered to a suitable substrate, Proshield® achieves a Class B-s1,d0* fire resistance rating, meeting UK regulatory requirements.
Can Proshield® be used on recladding projects as well as new builds?
Proshield® is designed for use on both new-build and recladding projects. In reclad projects, where the wall build-up may not be fully known, Proshield® will ensure that an airtight layer is provided around the entire structure, significantly enhancing its thermal properties, providing weather protection prior to cladding fitment, and providing suitable fire resistance*.
What can Proshield® be fitted to?
Proshield® can be fitted to a number of substrates, including Fibre Cement Board, Calcium Silicate Board, Gypsum Plasterboard, Aluminium Sheet, OSB & Mineral Fibre Wool, with Fibre Cement and Calcium Silicate Boards offering Class B, S1, d0 Fire Resistance. This means that Proshield® can be used on a variety of projects, both large and small, depending on their fire requirements continuing to offer the same advantages of air tightness, vapour permeability, and ease of installation.
* Class B, s1, d0 Fire Classification achieved with either Calcium Silicate or Fibre Cement Board backing. Other substrates provide a lower fire classification.
Applications:
Proshield® is ideal for a variety of construction projects, including:
- High-rise buildings
- Modular and offsite construction
- Timber frame and steel frame structures
- Wall and floor applications
- Retrofit and energy efficiency upgrades
